Changeable weather is on the way for Ireland with the very dry period likely coming to an end as we reach the weekend.
Weather chiefs are also keeping an eye on a "low system" which could bring cold conditions as the week goes on.
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said: "Still a lot of uncertainty around this weekend with potential low system coming close to Ireland but latest charts keep it a little further North. The location of this will also determine how cold it gets."
And Met Eireann have confirmed that the weather will be impacted more by the Atlantic as we approach the weekend.
The forecaster said: "Our weather will gradually become more changeable later in the week and over the weekend with the Atlantic having more of an influence; with some rain and it will be breezy at times too. It then looks like it will become drier again for a time early next week."
In the meantime temperatures will swing quite wildly with -1C expected in parts on Thursday night and then getting as mild as 12C on Friday afternoon.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, will too be mild after a cold Tuesday night with a chance of some rain.
The forecaster added: "Any fog, mist, frost or ice will clear early on Wednesday. Most areas will be dry for daylight hours; milder and breezier than recent days, in brisk southwest winds. Sunny spells at first but cloud will increase from the northwest as the day goes on, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing in the west and northwest during the afternoon.
"Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees. Scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will extend to other areas after dark."
