New weather maps show heavy rain threatening to dampen Ireland’s 25C bank holiday weekend.
The country has been engulfed in ‘mini-heatwave’ conditions since last week and the stunning weather is forecast to continue over the June bank holiday and right through the first week of June.
Temperatures have been hitting 25C at times alongside wall-to-wall sunshine.

But this could briefly change on bank holiday Monday as weather maps - which are subject to change this far out - show a band of rain over Ireland.
WXCharts models show rain over the north east of the country around noon, spreading south west throughout the afternoon and clearing into the Atlantic by 9pm.
Met Eireann’s forecast for bank holiday Monday also confirms rain is possible. They said: “Largely dry and sunny though cloud will build at times bringing the chance of isolated light showers, most likely in the north.”
In the meantime, Ireland can expect at least another week of mostly glorious weather.
Western areas will enjoy the best of the heat, while it will be cooler further east, especially near the Irish Sea.
Giving a day-by-day breakdown for the bank holiday and beyond, the national forecaster said: “Fine and dry today with plenty of sunshine across the country. Highs of 21C to 24C in western counties but cooler further east, especially near the Irish Sea, with highs of 16 to 20 degrees, in a light easterly breeze.
“Another dry, warm day Saturday with plenty of sunshine. A little cloud will bubble up at times, through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 18C to 24C generally, coolest in the east and warmest in the west, all in a light to moderate easterly breeze.
Mostly sunny and dry Sunday with just some patchy cloud at times. A stray light shower couldn't be ruled out in the north. Highest temperatures ranging from 18C degrees in the east to 24C or 25C in the west and southwest with light to moderate easterly winds.
“Largely dry and sunny Monday though cloud will build at times bringing the chance of isolated light showers, most likely in the north. Noticeably milder in the east than previous day as highest temperatures will range from 19C or 20C in the north and east to 25C in the west and southwest, all in mostly light easterly breezes.
Very little change Tuesday and Wednesday with mostly dry and sunny weather. There will be some cloud at times bringing with it a few light showers. Highest temperatures of 19C to 24C or 25C in mostly light easterly or variable breezes.
“Not much change expected for the rest of the week. Staying largely dry and mild with plenty of sunshine as high pressure remains nearby.”
