Ireland weather: Hot spell incoming as Met Eireann forecast exact date temperatures to hit high 20s

Ireland is set for another hot spell as temperatures are set to ramp up to the high 20s within days.

Met Eireann says an area of high pressure is building over Ireland and will bring “mostly dry and settled weather” for all of next week.

It said: “Next week will be dominated by high pressure bringing largely dry, warm and settled conditions. High pressure will be centred over the country at the start of the week before drifting eastwards, likely returning over the country towards the end of the week.

“Temperatures will be above normal throughout the country and drier than average conditions are expected too. With a slack airflow at times, there is the possibility of dense fog developing during the nights.”

The national forecaster says temperatures are set to increase by the day, giving Wednesday and Thursday as the exact days they will peak at 26C.

Warm and mostly dry weather is expected this weekend, but areas in the west and north could see some rain.

Met Eireann’s weekend forecast reads: “A generally dry start in the east and south today with sunny spells, but it will be cloudier across the west and north with a few light showers. It will become rather cloudy nationwide this afternoon with a few light showers about.

“By evening, sunny spells will develop more widely across the country as the cloud begins to break. Maximum temperatures will generally range 17C to 20C in moderate westerly winds, fresh on northern coasts.

“On Sunday, patchy rain will affect parts of north Ulster. Elsewhere, there will be lots of dry weather with just scattered light showers. The best of the sunshine is expected across Munster and south Leinster. Highest temperatures ranging from 18C to 22C in light or moderate westerly breezes.”

Looking ahead to next week, the state meteorological service said: “It looks set to be largely dry on Monday with sunny spells. There is the possibility of a few light showers in the west and north of the country. Maximum temperatures will range from 19C to 23C in a moderate southwest or variable breeze.

“Tuesday will be a mostly dry day with long spells of sunshine and just the small chance of a few light showers in Connacht and Ulster. Highest temperatures ranging 21C to 24C in light southwest or variable winds.

“Another dry and mostly fine day is forecast for Wednesday with long spells of sunshine. Feeling somewhat warmer than preceding days with highs of 22C to 26C with light southwest winds.

“Little change on Thursday with warm sunshine and scattered cloud. Highs of 21C to 26C, warmest in the south and east of the country.”

Giving its outlook for next weekend, it continued: “High pressure is expected to remain positioned close to Ireland bringing mostly dry weather with sunny spells.”
