Ireland is set for a few blustery days of rain, becoming intense during some points. While temperatures remain high, widespread rain is on the way with the possibility of more thunder by the weekend.
According to Met Eireann, the weekend will see “scattered thundery showers” which are set to get worse as the days go on, turning “heavy” for Sunday with some spot flooding also predicted.
But there is some good news, with the national forecast predicting that today (Wednesday) won’t be as bad as the coming days. Here is Met Eireann’s forecast for the week ahead:

Wednesday
Early tonight showers will become more isolated with clear spells for a time. However, scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will move in across much of the western half of the country later. Lowest temperatures of 11C to 13C in light to moderate southwest breezes.
Thursday
Thursday will be a rather wet and windy day with widespread falls of rain and drizzle, heaviest and most persistent across Atlantic counties with spot flooding. Low clouds and mist in parts too. Highest temperatures of 15C to 19C in fresh to strong southerly winds.
Wet and rather windy overnight too with some further blustery spells of rain. Mild and humid with lowest temperatures of 13C to 16C.
Friday
Currently, some scattered thundery showers will move up in the flow, and some intense falls across the west and southwest likely with spot flooding. Warm and humid, especially in the sunshine with the highest temperatures of 18C to 23C, in mostly fresh southeast winds.
Saturday
Currently, a band of thundery rain will clear northwards with sunshine and moderating westerly breezes following later. Highest temperatures of 18C to 23C.
Sunday
Widespread heavy thundery showers with spot flooding, especially later in the day. Highest temperatures of 17C to 22C in light to moderate southerly breezes.
