Ireland weather: Everyone saying the same thing about ‘weird’ ‘unnerving’ conditions

Irish people have taken to the internet to comment on the current weather conditions, with some describing it as ‘weird’ and ‘unnerving’.

Ireland is as hot as Madrid today, with top temperatures of 17C forecast, matching that of the Spanish capital.

Met Eireann say it’s “very mild for the time of year” with the warm weather set to continue into the weekend. Nighttime temperatures are not expected to drop below double figures.

This has caused one person to take to Reddit to rant about the “warmest November they’ve ever experienced”.

They said: “Like seriously lads, weather has rarely so far dipped below 10C. It’s nuts highs of 16C today wtf in all my years living in this country seeing people wearing t-shirts and shorts in November is something I never ever thought I’d see.

“Not natural in the slightest. People deny climate change all they want but come on. It’s hard to refute it when we see this.”

The post left people divided as they took to the comments section.

One person agreed: “Was just saying the annual battle with leaves in the garden should be ending but the trees are very slow to shed them this year. Very unseasonable.”

Another said: “I saw a bumble bee today. Was quite surprised at that. It's been a very mild autumn. I'm concerned that we'll pay for it with a brutal January and February. I've had the fire lit each night since November started, but I feel like that's because it's dark rather than because it's cold. If I was to put a jumper and woolly pyjamas on, I don't think I'd need to light the fire to keep me warm.”

A third said: “Don't remember it being this warm either. There are still flies around.”

Someone else wrote: “It's so unnerving.”

However some others weren’t in agreement.

One person wrote: “1946 it was 20 degrees on November 4th in Dublin. It is possible to get these warm spells in November. The heat at the moment is because of the weather mass coming from the Tropics. We had a very warm summer (average) which has raised sea temps as well. There have been numerous occasions in the past when this has happened, we should be getting covered in snow if you look at our latitude. We are on the same latitude as boreal forests where they get -20 degrees. Our prevailing wind prevents this thankfully. As much as people would like to think the mildness is from climate change, it is impossible to pin it down to just that. What is more to do with climate change is the heavy downpours of rain. We got one of the wettest October's in a long time. I wouldn't like our average temperature to drop, if it did drop to countries on a similar latitude, we would see swipes of our temperature ecosystems wiped out.”

Another person said: “It's the same November you've always experienced.”

Someone else wrote: “It's mild, but it's not much different to this time last year tbh. The 14th of November last year was 17.7° following a warm spell. By the end of the month the temperatures had dropped though. I'm not sure where you are but we've had a few days where the temperature was below 10° in Dublin over the last couple of weeks with a few night time temperatures of 3 to 5. Climate change is happening but this current spell isn't particularly indicative of it in my opinion other than the increased rainfall, both in terms of frequency and amounts.”

A fourth commented: “We had 17- 18 degree days in November last year as well in Connacht.”
