Ireland v Italy throw-in time, date, TV channel information, betting odds and more

Ireland will pick up the pieces this weekend after falling to France in Paris almost two weeks ago.

A promising start to the Six Nations at home to Wales was immediately put in the rear view as the Boys in Green and French did battle at the Stade de France.

But it was France who emerged victorious and scuppered Andy Farrell's Grand Slam hopes, and Ireland now adjust their focus on the Azzuri in Dublin this weekend.

Johnny Sexton is expected back to skipper the side, but Farrell was dealt a blow on Wednesday afternoon as lock Iain Henderson was ruled out with Covid-19.

Here's what you need to know:

Date

The game will be played on Sunday, February 27.

Venue

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell after France loss: "I’ve seen Irish teams in the past fall into this trap of ‘they lost the physical battle’ and the next game, the sleeves are rolled up and the performance is worse.

"That's because there's a reason why teams are physical or not.

"If we’ve all got 135kg blokes, just wind them up and let them go but we’ve not got that so we’ve got to be a little bit smarter.

"There were elements of that game where we were unbelievably physical - it’s because of our know-how and accuracy.

"There's a lot of fuel that has to go into being able to be physical and one of the main aspects of that is being connected, working well with one another and making sure we’re not doing things on our own.

“The minute it becomes going off on a tangent, ‘I’ll do it, I’ll roll my sleeves up’ then the opposition are allowed to dominate you.

"There’s a bit of learning in or around that space of the game for us because it was more of an understanding about how physicality works.

"You have to earn the right to be physical - and that’s something we have to learn."
