Ireland is set to be as hot as Lanzarote this week as sizzling temperatures continue to hold in the midst of a two-week mini-heatwave.
This Monday morning will see temperatures of up to 22C in the west of Ireland, in what is the first day of a week which will see temperatures soar into the mid 20s going into the June Bank Holiday weekend.
While a little cooler in the east of the country, weather expert Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said: "Another cracker of a morning with a glorious day ahead."

Mr O'Reilly stated that there will be a "fine sunny week ahead" adding that the 'drought' word could be employed ahead due to a "very dry outlook" on current weather models for the rest of the week.
Ireland rivals Spanish-owned Canary hotspot Lanzarote with its heat, which will also see temperatures of 24C each day this week.
Met Éireann has forecast Tuesday as warm, dry and mostly sunny, with temperatures of up to 23C.
Wednesday will see mercury hit 24C for the first time this week. The Irish Meteorological service said: "Warm, dry and sunny. Highest temperatures of 18 to 24 degrees. Mostly moderate northeasterly breezes will keep things slightly cooler in the east with highs there of 15 to 17 degrees."
Thursday will be warm, sunny and dry once again, with temperatures in the west reaching 24C, while still slightly cooler in the east.
For Friday, Met Éireann said: "Dry and warm in many parts, although there will be a little more passing cloud over the northern half of the country. Highest temperatures over the western half of the country will range from 21 to 24 degrees, while moderate easterly winds will keep highs over the eastern half of the country lower, ranging from 14 on the east coast up to 19 in the midlands."
They added that, so far, current indications show that the high pressure is likely to stick around into the Bank Holiday weekend.
"Remaining generally dry and sunny with temperatures reaching the high teens or low twenties away from the east coast and possibly reaching the mid-twenties in some western parts," Met Éireann added.
