Ireland has been enjoying over a week of ‘mini-heatwave’ weather conditions but Met Eireann has pinpointed the date that it could come to an end.
Temperatures have been hitting 25C at times alongside wall-to-wall sunshine as a glorious high pressure system dominates the country’s weather.
However uncertainty looms in the upcoming forecast amid fears the remnants of Storm Oscar, which is currently battering Spain, could head here.

Spain’s meteorological agency AEMET has officially named the storm, which is set to arrive in their country this week and bring sustained rain up until Wednesday.
The rain will be accompanied by strong winds, possible flooding and massive waves.
Status Orange and Yellow weather warnings have been issued for large parts of Spain.
Irish weather expert Alan O’Reilly has been monitoring long-range weather models and said its remnants could influence Ireland’s weather next weekend, but cautioned that at this stage the details remain “very uncertain”.
Posting on his popular Carlow Weather social media accounts, he wrote: “The remnants of Storm Oscar that will hit the Canary Islands could influence our weather next weekend but the details remain very uncertain beyond Friday.”
It comes as Met Eireann has also stated “uncertainty” in the forecast for next weekend.
The national forecaster said the stunning weather will continue through the working week but a change could happen next weekend.
It said of next weekend: “Staying warm with temperatures in the high teens or low twenties. There is uncertainty in the forecast as yet but there is a chance that some showers will move across the country from the south.”
From next Monday, June 12, it said: “High pressure looks to weaken its grip however there is still a signal for above average temperatures, drier than average conditions and it will remain mostly settled. This will add to the drought risk and the fire potential although the high temperature potential looks to be a little lower on average.”
In the meantime, weather conditions will remain mostly unchanged as high pressure continues to dominate, keeping things dry and warm with plenty of sunshine.
Giving a day-by-day breakdown, Met Eireann said: “Dry and sunny Monday. A little patchy cloud will bubble up during the afternoon and evening and there is the chance of isolated showers in Ulster. Highest temperatures of 20C to 24C, warmest in the west and slightly cooler on the east coast, in a light easterly breeze.
“Tuesday will be another generally dry and sunny day. Once again, cloud will bubble up in the afternoon and evening with isolated showers possible in northern areas. Highest temperatures generally of 20C to 24C but cooler in eastern coastal areas with highs there of 17C to 19C in a light easterly breeze.
“Staying dry and sunny for most Wednesday though with the chance of a light shower in Ulster. Highest temperatures of 20C to 24C for most. The east and northeast will be slightly cooler with highs of 16C to 19C in light to moderate easterly winds.
“Remaining dry Thursday with hazy sunshine across the country. Some patchy cloudy is possible in the southwest later. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in Leinster and east Ulster, and of 20C to 23C elsewhere, in light to moderate easterly winds.
“Most of the country will stay dry on Friday with spells of hazy sunshine. However, it is possible that it will be cloudier at times in the south and southwest with the chance of some patchy rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 17C to 22C, warmest in the west, in moderate easterly winds.
“Staying warm next weekend with temperatures in the high teens or low twenties. There is uncertainty in the forecast as yet but there is a chance that some showers will move across the country from the south.”
