The Irish Prison Service is recruiting prison officers across Ireland.
The prison service is looking for "conscientious, resilient, and adaptable" candidates for the full-time role. The IPS is offering €31,337 to €35,379 per year for the permanent position.
Currently, the IPS estate (the Estate) is made up of 12 prisons including 10 closed Prisons (ArbourHill, Castlerea, Cloverhill, Cork, Dochás, Limerick, Midlands, Mountjoy, Portlaoise, and Wheatfield) and two Open Centres (Loughan House and Shelton Abbey).

Successful candidates will be required to work a basic 2,035 hours per year based on an average roster of 39 hours a week and will be required to work shifts including night duties, every second weekend, some public holidays and over festive seasons.
The ideal applicant will "have the capacity to relate to and engage with prisoners, act with professionalism, tolerance and humanity and the ability to role model positive social behaviour", the job description reads. Officers will be expected to conduct the majority of face-to-face interactions with people committed to prisons including transportation from court, committal, safety, supporting access to healthcare, psychology, and maintaining good order and discipline.
