Ireland international makes switch to Serie A newcomers

Ireland international Niamh Farrelly has made the move to Serie A.

The Dubliner yesterday confirmed her switch from Glasgow City to Parma, who are preparing for their first season in the Italian top-flight.

Farrelly (23) is a former Peamount United midfielder and she has four senior Ireland caps to her name to date.

Parma are a rising force in the Italian game. They were awarded promotion to a revamped Serie A ahead of the coming campaign in place of Empoli.

Italian chiefs have moved to make the top flight a fully professional league and Parma’s progression off the field earned them their spot.

Farrelly, who could make her debut in next month’s opener against Inter Milan, tweeted: “Factor 50 every day, here we go.”
