Tragic news has emerged from Iran as Iranian media has confirmed the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, aged 63, and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian following a helicopter crash in the mountainous province of East Azerbaijan. The incident, which took place in heavy fog, resulted in the loss of all nine individuals on board.

Reports from Iranian state media Press TV and semi-official news agencies have confirmed the fatalities, with a senior official also verifying the deaths of President Raisi and the foreign minister. The helicopter, which was returning from a trip to the Iran-Azerbaijan border, encountered difficulties due to the adverse weather conditions.
