Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a rare Friday prayer sermon in Tehran to honor the memory of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. This significant event marked the first time in nearly five years that Khamenei led Friday prayers for such a solemn occasion. The last time he did so was to commemorate the death of Qasem Soleimani, the revered commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who was tragically killed in a US airstrike at Baghdad International Airport.
Following Nasrallah's recent death in an Israeli airstrike, Khamenei ordered a missile attack on Israel as a response. This move underscored the deep impact of Nasrallah's passing on Iran and its allies.
Thousands of individuals gathered at Tehran's Grand Mosque to listen to Khamenei's sermon. Among the worshippers, a large poster of Nasrallah was prominently displayed, and the crowd fervently waved Lebanese and Palestinian flags. The scene captured on state television depicted both men and women chanting, with some attendees proudly waving Hezbollah flags and holding posters of Nasrallah and Soleimani in a show of solidarity.
