Iran’s Revolutionary Guards seized a foreign vessel, saying it was carrying 11 million liters of smuggled fuel in the Gulf on Monday, according to the Student News Network’s Telegram channel.

The captain and crew of the foreign oil tanker are in custody to complete the investigation process and legal proceedings.

Iran, which has some of the world’s cheapest fuel prices due to heavy subsidies and the plunge in the value of its national currency, has been fighting rampant fuel smuggling by land and sea.
