Iran FM Meets Mikati, Calls on All Countries to Back Lebanon without Meddling in its Policies

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday that Tehran calls on all countries to support Lebanon's stability and security without interfering in its internal policies.

"Tehran emphasizes the need to strengthen relations between Iran and Lebanon in the political and economic fields,” the Iranian FM said in a statement after meeting Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim and Lebanon's Ambassador to Germany Mustafa Adib attended the talks.

During his trip, Mikati met with German Minister of State for International Cooperation Nils Anin to discuss bilateral relations and Berlin's efforts to support Lebanon in all international arenas.

The PM met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry for talks on bilateral ties.

Mikati expressed Beirut's gratitude for Egypt's constant support for Lebanon, particularly the recent aid that it sent to his country.

Also in Munich, Mikati sat down with a delegation from the US Congress, which included Senators Chris Murphy, Jane Shaheen and Chris Van Hollen.

He also held talks with the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani.

They addressed bilateral relations between Lebanon and Kurdistan, stressing the need to strengthen and develop them, while also tackling developments in Iraq and the region and efforts to form s new Iraqi government.
