Iran has leveled serious accusations against Israel after a series of explosions caused by pagers owned by Hezbollah members rocked Lebanon, resulting in nine fatalities and over 2,800 injuries.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, condemned the incidents as a 'terrorist act' and 'genocide,' attributing them to what he described as the 'complex operations of the Zionist entity and its mercenary agents.'

Kanaani emphasized that such actions violate moral, humanitarian, and international legal principles, particularly international humanitarian law, and called for international criminal prosecution, trial, and punishment for those responsible.

Among the casualties was Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, and two embassy staff members, as reported by Iranian state media.

The explosions were attributed to Hezbollah members' pagers.

Hezbollah, a powerful militia group supported by Iran, has been engaged in ongoing clashes with Israel, with the recent explosions exacerbating tensions in the region.

According to Kanaani, the coordinated attacks, allegedly orchestrated by Israel's Mossad intelligence service and military, underscore the perceived threat posed by Israel to global peace and security.

Calling for swift action from the international community, Kanaani urged accountability for what he termed as 'Zionist criminal officials.'
