Alexander Isak was the star of the show as he netted his first Premier League hat-trick as Newcastle thrashed Ipswich 4-0 at Portman Road.
The super Swede opened the scoring after just 25 seconds when he fired in after a deflected Jacob Murphy cross. VAR intervened and took two minutes to finally award the goal.
Murphy then got himself on the scoresheet when he fired in his third goal in two top-flight outings after 30 minutes. A defensive mix-up allowed Bruno Guimaraes to tee up Isak’s second on the stroke of half-time.
In the second period, Murphy turned provider with a superb backheel to allow Isak his milestone goal. The comfortable victory means Eddie Howe’s side have won back-to-back top-flight games 4-0.
The midweek quarter-final League Cup victory over Brentford capped off a perfect seven days for the Geordie Boys. As it stands, they occupy seventh position in the table.

Meanwhile, the Tractor Boys remain in 18th position after their humbling defeat in Suffolk. Kieran McKenna’s side were brought crashing back down to earth after their victory at Wolves last weekend.
Supporters will be left upset at the way their side folded over for what was admittedly much stronger opposition. Nonetheless, last year’s Championship runners-up have shown they can compete in England’s elite.
From Newcastle’s perspective, Eddie Howe will be keen to see his side push on and challenge for a European spot. With Isak in such good form, there’s no reason why they can’t be achieved.
The 25-year-old becomes just the second Swede to net a Premier League hat-trick. Freddie Ljungberg did so for Arsenal in the 2002/03 season.
