MUMBAI: Romario Shepherd has been part of the IPL since 2022 but never got an opportunity to display his wares. He was bought for Rs 7.75 crore that season by Sunrisers Hyderabad but played just three games. In 2023 he moved to Lucknow Super Giants but featured in just one match.
So, eyebrows were raised when Mumbai Indians traded him from LSG at the start of the season. Maybe MI knew a thing or two of the quality the 29-year-old allrounder possesses. He also was looked as a replacement for Cameron Green, who moved to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The inputs of West Indian Kieron Pollard, who is now the MI batting coach, could have come in handy. Shepherd has spoken highly about Pollard and the influence he's had on his career.
