IPL 2022: Former India opener Sudhir Naik miffed with Wankhede Stadium ticket allocation

Former India Test player and ex-Wankhede Stadium curator Sudhir Naik criticized the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) after he and other former Test players of Mumbai were provided one complimentary ticket each to watch the IPL matches at Wankhede in the Vijay Merchant Stand, rather than the customary Garware Clubhouse Stand for former India cricketers.

Usually, the MCA gives all the former Test players two tickets for the Garware Clubhouse. However, this time, due to the 25% stadium capacity rule, the MCA is giving one ticket each to them, of the Vijay Merchant Stand.

“There’s a fixed place for us ex-Test cricketers in the second tier of the Garware Clubhouse to watch the match for the last so many years. I was told that they’ve given those passes to other people," said MCA secretary Sanjay Naik.

"As a former India cricketer, I’m disappointed,” Naik said.

However, the MCA said they are giving players the complimentary tickets given by the BCCI.

“We’ve given what the BCCI has provided to us.”
