iPhone 18 Pro renders reveal the two big design changes we can expect from Apple's 2026 flagship phones

IPhone 18 Pro leak-based render, showing a punch-hole display notch in the top left corner.

The iPhone 18 Pro's rumored distinguishing design change has been shown in 4K resolution thanks to Jon Prosser and Front Page Tech.

Once you've finished admiring the slickly-produced video, the most interesting thing about the iPhone 18 Pro model on show is that its front camera lives in the top left corner, with iOS' Dynamic Island interface shifted along with it.

This is because of the rumored move of the Face ID sensors from an in-screen cutout to under the display. The selfie camera will still be exposed, according to the rumors and FPT's renders, and the Dynamic Island alerts will continue to pop out to fill the whole screen when required. But otherwise, all this hardware's apparently getting stuffed into the corner.

The other major design difference is the color options. Burgundy — the color of the renders in the FPT video, is one of the ones rumored, as are purple and brown.

Departing from the Dynamic Island

The current Dynamic Island pill-shaped cutout has been part of the iPhone's design since 2022's iPhone 14 Pro. Before that, we had the plain old Face ID notch, which first appeared on 2017's iPhone X. But it appears that after nine years, Apple's going to give us something new for the front of the iPhone 18 Pro.

But what exactly that will be is unclear. FPT's renders show a single punch-hole, much like you'd see on a typical Android phone. But it's possible that Apple will try to keep the Dynamic Island's heritage intact with a smaller pill-shaped notch, or something else unexpected. We'll need more information before we can be certain.

There are other upgrades rumored for the iPhone 18 Pro, if the tipped changes to the front camera placement don't grab you. These include claims of a main camera with a variable aperture for at least the iPhone 18 Pro Max, if not both Pro models, a simplified Camera Control key, and a more powerful 2-nanometre A20 Pro chipset, in-house Apple C2 modem and satellite 5G support on the inside.

It's not clear if Prosser has produced these renders based on the publicly available leaks, or if he has his own sources. But given that all of his claims match with things we've heard before about the iPhone 18 Pro, it seems reasonable that his description and visuals are a good likeness for Apple's upcoming pro iPhones.

We'll only now for sure when these phones launch, which in the iPhone 18 Pro's case, should be early September.
