An iPhone 17 Pro Max vs. iPhone 16 Pro Max comparison lets us consider potential changes to Apple's most premium phone (depending on how you feel about the rumored iPhone 17 Air, of course). Yes, Apple's iPhone 17 lineup won't debut until much later this year, but enough rumors have emerged to paint something of a picture of the phone to come. Add in easy-to-predict upgrades like a new chipset, and you can already outline some of the potential improvements over the current Pro Max offering.
Certainly, Apple will have to do a lot to improve upon the iPhone 16 Pro Max — it's not only the best iPhone available right now, it just narrowly misses out on being the best phone overall based on our testing. (We give the nod to the Galaxy S25 Ultra these days.) Besides the strong performance and epic battery life, the iPhone 16 Pro Max also produces outstanding photos thanks to a stellar camera setup. And like other models in the iPhone 16 lineup, it supports the latest Apple Intelligence features.
