Iowa punter Tory Taylor is just 20 yards away from breaking an 85-year-old punting yards record.

The current single-season punting yards record stands at 4,138, which was set by the late Johnny Pingel in 1938 at Michigan State. Taylor currently leads the FBS in punting yards this season with 4,119, which he will certainly break in the Citrus Bowl, likely with one punt.
This is simply another notch in the belt of the putrid Iowa offense, which won 10 games this season and made a Big Ten title despite fielding the worst offensive unit in the FBS. The Hawkeyes enter bowl season ranked dead last–130th in the FBS–in total offense.

As a result, the Hawkeyes are moving on from offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz, the son of head coach Kirk Ferentz, following the bowl game.
The Hawkeyes are set to take on Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day in Orlando. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET.
