No. 16 Iowa is facing a tall task in the Big Ten championship game on Saturday as they prepare to take on No. 2 Michigan. Although the Hawkeyes’ defense is one of the best in the country, its offense has struggled all year to score points consistently.
With that in mind, one Iowa business is confident enough in Iowa’s offensive ineptitude that it’s putting profits on the line. Indeed, X-Golf in Cedar Rapids announced on Facebook it’s offering patrons free draft beer from kickoff until Iowa scores a point Saturday night. If the Hawkeyes don’t score, the offer expires when the game ends.
While that offer may seem risky, Iowa’s offense hasn’t offered much to believe it can trade punches with a stout Wolverines defense. The Hawkeyes enter the game averaging 18.0 points per game, which is tied with Nebraska for No. 121 in the country. Michigan, meanwhile, has the top scoring defense of all 130 FBS teams, allowing just 10.25 points per game.
So, it’s possible that X-Golf will have customers imbibing for free well into the night. It will be up to the Hawkeyes to spoil the party.
