Apple surprised users last week by releasing a new version of iOS 17.4.1 on an unusual day, Wednesday, instead of the typical Monday or Tuesday updates. The update, which followed closely after iOS 17.4, raised eyebrows due to its unexpected timing.
The initial release of iOS 17.4.1 included important security fixes, as detailed by experts. However, a new build of the software, identified by a different build number (21E237), has now been unveiled by Apple. This revised version, compared to the earlier build (21E236), likely contains minor bug fixes.
Despite the new release, users currently cannot access the updated version through the standard over-the-air update method. Instead, those eager to install the latest iOS must download the IPSW file from Apple and update their devices using the Mac's Finder app.
Speculation arose regarding potential references to upcoming iPads within the new software, although it appears that these references do not indicate an imminent iPad Pro launch.
Given that the updated version is not classified as a Rapid Security Response by Apple, users are advised to wait until the over-the-air update becomes available before taking action. The situation is being closely monitored for any further developments.
