The investigation into the death of British artist and former One Direction member Liam Payne, which took place nearly two months ago in Argentina, continues to unfold, now focusing on the potential responsibility of executives at the CasaSur hotel, where he was staying at the time of his death.
Judicial proceedings initially revolved around three individuals who interacted with Payne before his fatal fall from the third floor of the hotel. However, Argentine authorities are now shifting their attention to CasaSur's management during the incident.
According to Argentine media, Judge Laura Bruniard, overseeing the case, has filed charges against Esteban Reynaldo Grassi and Gilda Martín, who were CasaSur's head of security and hotel manager, respectively, when Liam died on October 16, 2024.
While the exact charges remain undisclosed, reports highlight that Grassi called 911 alleging that Payne was "under the influence of drugs," "breaking everything in the room," and requesting immediate intervention.
Interrogations have been scheduled
Interrogations are set to begin next week. It has been confirmed that Rogelio "Roger" Nores, a friend of Liam who spent time with him shortly before his death, along with waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz and CasaSur employee Ezequiel Pereyra will be among the first to testify.
Judge Bruniard has scheduled the hearings for December 17 and 19.
Additionally, it was revealed that Geoff Payne, Liam's father, has submitted documents to the court provided by Liam's neuropsychiatrist to Nores. These documents warned of the risks posed by Liam's combination of antidepressants and alcohol, highlighting their potentially fatal effects.
Toxicology results from the artist's autopsy confirmed the presence of this mixture, along with cocaine. While it is still unclear how he fell from the balcony of his hotel room, this investigation is at least proving sufficient negligence on the hotel's part for a lawsuit.
