Investigation underway as Nottingham street cordoned off after incident

A police cordon remains in place after an industrial incident in Nottingham. Police were called to a work site in Thurgarton Street, Sneinton, after the man suffered serious head injuries shortly before midday on Wednesday, February 8.

A section of the road between Pullman Road and Castle Street has been cordoned off. The scene remained in place on Thursday, February 9.

Road closure signs have also been placed at the scene. The investigation will be dealt with the Health and Safety Executive who will investigate the circumstances, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive said: “We are aware of this incident and investigating alongside Nottinghamshire Police.”

In a previous statement after the incident, Temporary Inspector Iain Blackstock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Emergency services acted quickly to arrive at the scene of this report. A man was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries that are currently believed to be life-threatening.

“The investigation will be taken over the by the Health and Safety Executive in due course.”
