Investigation launched after blaze was deliberately started in a Westerhope underpass

Westerhope Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service West Denton

A fire in a Newcastle underpass was believed to have been deliberately started by youths.

Firefighters from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service attended the blaze on West Denton Way in Westerhope at around 9pm on Tuesday.

A small amount of wood had been set alight in an underpass between Morrison’s and McDonalds.
