Investigation concludes after woman 'everyone loved' dies in Nottingham house fire

A fire investigation has concluded there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a Nottingham woman in a house blaze. Emergency services were called to Tintern Drive in the Whitemoor area of the city at around 1.30pm on December 12.

The woman, aged in her 70s, died at the scene. Lucie Poxon, fire investigation manager at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said today (december 19): "Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman involved and we send our deepest condolences to them. A fire investigation has been completed and we have found no suspicious circumstances led to the woman's death.

"We would like to remind people to test their smoke alarms regularly and have an escape plan which everyone in your house is familiar with. " A file is now being prepared for the coroner ahead of an inquest into the woman's death.

Following the tragedy, neighbours described the woman as a "kind and lovely person". They also passed on their condolences to her loved ones.

Rachel Hall said: "She was very sweet. It is shocking and upsetting.

"People absolutely loved her around here, everyone loved her. She was very friendly."

Phillip Rogerson passed his condolences to her family, adding: "It is so sad, especially before Christmas. I have lived here for 37 years and we never had an incident like this before."
