Village residents are happy to see a dispersal zone put in place due to an increase in anti-social behaviour. Nottinghamshire Police have put a dispersal zone in place in Balderton, near Newark, which covers Balderton Lake, Coronation Street Park, and the area near the Lakeside shopping centre, where groups of youths are known to gather.
Anyone found to be behaving in an anti-social manner in these areas will be issued with a Direction to Leave Notice under Section 59 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. A person issued with a notice is not allowed to return to the area within 24 hours, and to do so is an arrestable offence.
Newark Police posted on Facebook: "Whilst we are all for enjoying the summer holidays, we as an organisation and local neighbourhood policing team are also committed to engaging with the community which we police and ensuring all fun is done in a safe manner and all members of the community are respected and can go about their daily activities within the local community without issue."
