'Intimidating' - Dion Dublin makes Leeds United and Newcastle United comparison

Dion Dublin has described the Elland Road atmosphere as 'intimidating', which is something Leeds United may need to tap into in the end of season run-in. The Whites will hope that the eight point gap that they have between themselves and 18th placed Burnley will be enough to keep them safe but the Clarets play three more times before Leeds' next game.

Therefore, it is possible that the bottom of the table could tighten up and put pressure on the final six games, meaning that the team may need to take advantage of that intimidating atmosphere in games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Brighton.

Dublin was speaking in the context of praising Newcastle United and how the atmosphere at St James' Park has changed from toxic for the home side to intimidating for away sides.

He said to Premier League productions ( as reported by HITC ): "I think it’s chalk and cheese because they wanted to go and play away from home, that’s how hostile it was (at St James’ Park) for themselves. Now they want to play at home.

"Even though the stadium is massive. They are still quite close as well. You can hear everything. The noise is deafening. When it’s bouncing, it’s very similar to Leeds when it’s bouncing and it’s intimidating."

That Elland Road atmosphere has seemed to benefit the Whites this season, as late goals have been scored against Brentford, Wolves, Norwich & Crystal Palace at home. The goals all proved vital in the Whites picking up important points.
