Intex Projects wins £3.6m office fit-out project

Fit-out firm Intex Projects has won a £3.6 million tender to create a new flexible working hub in Birmingham city centre. The Warwick-based company has been retained by x+why to create its new co-working facility at 103 Colmore Row after completing a similar project at its 'Foundry' hub which opened in 6 Brindleyplace in May.

It will fit out 31,500 sq ft of space on floors one to three to include self-contained offices, co-working space and meeting rooms. It will also create a new members' club on the 18th floor, to be called ‘Eighteen', which includes a business lounge, break-out space and dining and bar facilities along with a 3,000 sq ft outdoor terrace overlooking the city centre. The facility is opening in October.

Intex director Charles Wolverson said: "We are delighted to be working again with x+why on this very exciting scheme. It will provide a new level of flexible working in the Birmingham central business district as well as offering the unique venue of the 18th floor members' club offering some of the best views of Birmingham.

"Our collaborative approach on Foundry proved to be very successful and we will be approaching this project in a similar manner."

Phil Nevin, chief creative officer at x+why, added: "We are thrilled to be on site with this exciting project. We are delighted to be working for a second time with Midlands based-contractor Intex, following a successful collaboration at Brindleyplace's Foundry."

103 Colmore Row has more than 220,000 sq ft of grade A office space over 26 storeys along with a ground-floor café and restaurant on the 24th floor to be run by D&D London. It is being developed by a joint venture team of Tristan Capital Partners and Sterling Property Ventures.
