Internet provider Telcom Group to relocate city centre HQ after signing 15-year deal

An internet provider is to relocate to new headquarters in Manchester's Northern Quarter after signing a deal worth around £300,000 a year.

Telcom Group will move from Hilton House to Northstar which was sold by Bywater Properties to Open Door Developments in February for over £3m.

The group will occupy the entire 11,514 sq ft self-contained building, which is more than five times the size of its previous premises.

The 15-year deal comes after the group received a £63.5m investment from one of the largest specialist alternative asset managers in the country last year.

Shaun Gibson, CEO of Telcom Group, said: "This move solidifies our position as a fast-moving business, committed to significant further growth over the next decade. Last year, we secured £63.5m in our Series A fund raise, which has enabled us to expand nationwide but with a special emphasis on the North of England where we will be building large scale fibre networks across Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham.

"Our new HQ is situated in an area of Manchester that we have already successfully installed our exceptional full fibre infrastructure meaning that we are confident that the digital infrastructure is in place to support our future growth. Connectivity and the ability to access it, is at the very core of our business.

"The Northern Quarter has a special place in hearts as it is not only where our business was originally born but also an area of the city that actively encourages entrepreneurial businesses, which resonates with us."

Telcom Group is in the process of deploying over 2,000km of new fibre network infrastructure to support fibre rollout to over 250,000 homes and 125,000 businesses over the next two to three years.
