Today is International Women's Day, and our Focus takes us to Pakistan, where a policewoman has recently been making the headlines. Assistant superintendent Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi came to the rescue of a woman being accused of blasphemy by an angry mob in a local Lahore market.
Since then, Naqvi has become a role model for millions of young women in Pakistan, a country ranked 145 out of 146 in the gender equality index by the World Economic Forum. In Pakistan's traditional Islamic and largely conservative society, many women are pressured to marry young and abandon any desire for a professional career.
