GORAKHPUR: Tightening the noose around encephalitis, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday urged health officials and residents of eastern UP to intensify their sustained effort against the 'killer of the east' and rest only after it it eliminated.
"The number of deaths due to encephalitis have been brought down by 95%, thanks to the synchronised efforts of the government, civil society and different departments. The battle, however, is on and steps must be taken to achieve the remaining 5% to totally eradicate the disease from UP," the CM said. He was launching the Dastak campaign, a special drive to counter encephalitis and communicable diseases that spike during the rainy season, at BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur.
