Instant analysis of Ravens selection of DL Travis Jones at No. 76 overall

The Baltimore Ravens have added plenty of talent on the defensive side of the ball during the 2022 NFL draft. They selected Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton at No. 14 overall, then took Michigan edge rusher David Ojabo as their second defender taken. After Ojabo, the team decided to add to their defensive trenches and selected Connecticut’s Travis Jones at No. 76 overall.

Jones was widely considered to be an early-to-mid second round pick, with some having him as a late first rounder. In three years as a Husky, Jones accumulated 134 total tackles including 19 for loss and 8.5 sacks. He was extremely productive, and very consistent as a member of the Connecticut defensive line.

The defensive lineman can play multiple positions on the defensive front, and provides very good run stuffing ability to go along with a very solid pass rushing presence. Baltimore has struggled to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks from the interior, so Jones should help with that.

With veterans such as Calais Campbell, Derek Wolfe, and Michael Pierce not getting any younger, adding a player like Jones is a great pick at a position of need who also represented one of the best players available on the board. He should be able to find playing time as a rookie, and should be productive in his snaps.
