The Baltimore Ravens had another inexplicable collapse, this time in Week 6 against the New York Giants. They fell by the final score of 24-20 in a game that they were well on their way to winning, but a fourth quarter collapse is once again the key storyline, as they got outscored 14-7 in devastating fashion.
Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson gave away the ball two times late in the contest, first one an ill-advised throw into the arms of a Giants defender that gave New York the ball deep into Ravens territory. After New York scored, Jackson had the ball stripped from him and the Giants recovered, effectively ending the game.
Jackson finished the contest completing 17-of-32 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown to go along with his one interception. Running back Kenyan Drake had a career day, rushing nine times for 110 yards and a score while tight end Mark Andrews was Baltimore’s entire receiving offense, catching seven passes for 106 yards and a score.
On defense, the Ravens held Saquon Barkley to 3.8 yards per carry, which was key in their early-game success. However, the team as a whole committed 10 penalties for 74 yards, some of which were called against the defense in key moments.
Baltimore will look to rebound quickly against the Cleveland Browns at home in Week 7. However, the team has some serious soul searching to do after having the same trend continue in each of their three losses in which they started off well but couldn’t hold a lead late in the games.
