The Jets needed help along the offensive line and they added help in a big way in the second round of the draft.
With the 43rd pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Wisconsin center Joe Tippmann. We say a “big way” because Tippmann is very big for a center. He measured six-foot-six and 313 pounds at the Combine, very big for a center. Tippmann played tackle in high school and then worked all along the line before settling in at center in 2021, the first time he played the position.
Despite just two years of experience at center, Tippmann’s athletic ability allows him to move well at the position.
The Jets will have a lot of size up front with the addition of Tippman.

The Jets did recently re-sign Connor McGovern, but gave him a very cheap deal, a signing that didn’t preclude the Jets from taking a center in the draft. They needed a long-term center anyway and now they have such a center in Tippmann. A very good pick for the Jets.
