We wrote about Haason Reddick and the Eagles, discussing a potential extension or the All-Pro pass rusher taking his talents elsewhere.
Adam Schefter reports that Philadelphia is trading Reddick to the New York Jets.
Reddick is one of four players with 50+ sacks since 2020.
Jets were in market for pass rusher, tried with Clowney…so they go and get a premier guy. https://t.co/toXKoSLwTm

Reddick finished the year with 11.0 sacks and 38 tackles in 17 regular-season games, and he recorded double-digit sacks for the fourth consecutive season, leading his team in that category and tying for 15th in the NFL.
Had Nolan Smith shown that he was ready to be an elite pass rusher, the idea would have been to cut or trade Reddick, saving the Eagles $11 million after the dead money allotment.
Here’s an instant trade analysis with the move set to be completed.
Reddick was still productive
Reddick finished the year with 11.0 sacks and 38 tackles in 17 regular-season games, and he recorded double-digit sacks for the fourth consecutive season, leading his team in that category and tying for 15th in the NFL.
Outside of the sacks, though, Reddick’s numbers were poor by his standards.
His 38 tackles were the second-lowest mark of his career, and he didn’t force or recover a fumble after forcing five and recovering three last season. His snap share (74 percent) remained identical, indicating the drop-off wasn’t due to a lack of opportunities but mismanagement from coaches.
He’ll now swap teams with Bryce Huff.
Eagles may have over thought things
Over last 4 years, Reddick ranks 4th among all NFL defensive players in sacks (50.5), 11th in QB hits (86), 8th in tackles for loss (51) and 9th in total pressures (235).
Reddick ranked 7th among edge rushers in pass run win rate in 2024, while Huff ranked 8th.
Some notable Haason Reddick stats:
– He's played at least 74% of the snaps in each of the last four years. That might go down with #Jets.
– Over last 4 years, ranks 4th among all defensive players in sacks (50.5), 11th in QB hits (86), 8th in TFL (51) and 9th in total pressures…— Zack Rosenblatt (@ZackBlatt) March 29, 2024
What role will Bryce Huff play
Nolan Smith will see his snaps increase at the SAM Linebacker spot, and Huff is listed as a traditional defensive end along with Josh Sweat.
How will the Eagles replace Reddick’s snaps and edge production?
Haason Reddick played twice as many snaps on early downs last season compared to former Jet Bryce Huff, generating 17 more pressures than him on such downs.
Reddick was one of three players to record 6 or more pressures in 8 games in 2023 (M. Parsons, J. Allen).#TakeFlight https://t.co/2KcnJxkJ2W pic.twitter.com/07W9ekbKGn

NFL is tough business
Reddick, a native of Camden who played his college football ball at Temple, is going into the final year of his contract and was seeking a new deal.
Reddick will still be near his childhood home, but he’ll travel up the New Jersey Turnpike going the opposite direction, while there’s no gauarantee of a contract extension with the Jets.
