Instagram is adding video and audio templates to its Reels platform, which can be customised by users.
The template function could be similar to the one on TikTok. Meta, which owns Instagram, has reportedly been working on the modifications to Reels since last April.
“We’re always working on ways to improve your Reels experience,” a statement reads on the Instagram Blog. “We’ll continue to build on the Reels templates feature to make it easier and more fun to create and share on Instagram.”
The change to Reels will make it easier and faster for users to react to viral trends. Instagram has already been the subject of jokes about how it has pushed users towards the new format.
What is Reels?
Instagram's Reels feature enables users to record or post 60-second video clips that they may then edit, sound-dub, or embellish before sharing on the platform. With the help of these little videos, people can share original content, display personality, promote brands, or simply have fun.
Reels can be located at the top of the screen when being used. It is common for Insta users to thread several highlights from their day together using the function.
How to make a Reel
You may create a Reels movie by navigating to the camera portion of the app and selecting Reels from the options at the bottom, such as Boomerang and Layout. You can utilise a number of features, such as a soundtrack, to make your video popular.
Choose trendy tracks or use your own audio; a useful feature lets you choose the precise section of the song to play during the video; just keep in mind that you only have 15 seconds to do it.
Along with the familiar Instagram filters, there are temporal controls to slow down or speed up the picture. The green screen effect is really intriguing because it lets you alter your background.
Using the Align tool, you can begin moving with the following part after aligning with the frame of the previous photo.
Reels is constantly making improvements; previously, two updates were made back in April to help users make better and quicker videos. First were changes to the production process itself with the second being improvement to help creators get inspired and latch on to the latest viral trends.
How to use the new-look Reels
The new browser can be accessed by clicking on the “create” button on the homepage and then selecting the Reel option. You can then tap the images in the left-hand part of the screen to browse your camera gallery and then click on “templates”.
Alternatively, if you click through the Reels tab by tapping on the camera icon and then click on “templates” you can get started. In this part of the screen you can see the “template by” button, which shows how others have used templates on offer.
Which countries is Reels available in?
Reels is available in 50 countries including the UK, India, Brazil, France, Germany and Japan.
Last month, the app allowed users in the US to download other people’s Reels to their phones so they can watch and share them outside the app. This feature will travel across the pond soon.
