A Wishaw care home has been praised by inspectors but warned to continue to improve after a horror inspection last year.
Following a damning report in 2021, Netherton Court Care Home announced it was taking a number of steps to address the problems outlined.
The Care Inspectorate graded the home as “weak” in the care and support given during the pandemic category and were also given a weak rating in people’s health and wellbeing and staffing arrangements.
Infection prevention was given an adequate rating.
Inspectors returned in September and painted a rosier picture but acknowledged more work had still to be done.
The report states: “We have repeated the two requirements made at the last inspection. Although we could see improvements there was still work to be completed to meet them.
“The service had met six of the nine areas for improvement made at the last inspection.
“There was a requirement to improve the range of meaningful activities made at the last inspection.
“Although the activity team had worked hard, and we could see improvements, there was still work to be completed to meet this requirement.
“There was a requirement made at the last inspection around staff being appropriately trained.
“Whilst mandatory and refresher training was now up to date staff had not received dementia skilled training nor training to support people with stress and distress.
“An extension to this training has been agreed to December 8.”
A spokeswoman for Thistle Healthcare, which run the care home acknowledged more work was still be done.
However, the spokeswoman continued: “Since its inspection earlier this year, the whole team at Netherton Court Care Home has been working hard on the Care Inspectorate’s recommendations.
“We are pleased that our efforts have been recognised following this most recent inspection and are pleased with our progress.
“Of course, there is always room for improvement and continuous development, and we recognise the specific areas the Care Inspectorate has set out. We will continue to address these. ”
