Kim Kardashian has taken things up a notch with her new boo Lewis Hamilton, making their relationship Instagram official on Monday, and doing it in very on-brand fashion. The SKIMS mogul shared a Reel of herself beaming in the passenger seat of a Ferrari while the Formula 1 superstar pulls donuts, giving followers a glimpse into their high-octane dynamic.
It’s the first time Kim’s publicly acknowledged the romance in such a direct way, marking a clear shift from low-key speculation to full-blown hard launch territory. Naturally, the internet had plenty to say, but behind the scenes, attention has also turned to how her ex-husband Kanye West feels about the whole thing. According to insiders, he’s got thoughts… and they’re about as complicated as you’d expect.
“This is a good thing. Kanye [isn’t] questioning ‘Is Lewis a good person?’ He’s a sweet, smart person, a good person and an incredible athlete,” a source close to West, 48, told Page Six, adding that Hamilton is an “acquaintance” of the rapper’s inner circle.
Last month, Hamilton, 41, joined Kardashian on a family trip to Tokyo, spending time with three of the kids she shares with Kanye West — daughter Chicago, 8, and sons Saint, 10, and Psalm, 6. Notably, eldest daughter North, 12, didn’t appear in any of the photos shared from the getaway.
“He feels at peace right now with Lewis being around his kids,” the source said of West. “He was trustful about that. He loves [Kardashian] in a way that he wants [the best for] her wellbeing.”
It’s a stark contrast to how West reacted to Pete Davidson, who was Kardashian’s first high-profile relationship after their split in February 2021.
“He did hate Pete Davidson,” the source said.
Kardashian’s relationship with the comedian played out while her split from West was still messy, with their divorce only finalised in November 2022. Across their nine-month romance, West repeatedly took aim at Davidson — dropping a track that threatened to “beat Pete Davidson’s ass” and even releasing a music video depicting a cartoon version of the comedian being kidnapped and buried, while mockingly dubbing him “Skete”, and the comedian often retaliated.
“That made me feel really sad,” Kardashian told Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper in October 2025. “That really wasn’t fair for [Davidson].”
The source said that at the time, West “was traumatised because he lost the love of his life”, adding that now the rapper “admits why he lost her… He brought a lot of chaos to her… but he also brought chaos to the world. He looks back and says ‘Oh my god’.”
Elsewhere on CHD, Kardashian blamed West’s “toxic” behaviour for their split, in particular his manic “episodes”.
“I didn’t like the feeling of someone talking bad about my kids, grandmother, aunts — all of those feelings,” Kardashian told Cooper, adding that her ex had also divulged too many personal issues, including publicly alleging they had considered getting an abortion during her pregnancy with North.
She also said a “lack of stability” and “not feeling safe emotionally and financially” in the marriage contributed to the divorce, recounting a time when she would come home to five new Lamborghinis, only for West to give them away to friends in the midst of “an episode”.
