The terrorist responsible for the death of Scots aid worker David Haines is set to be sentenced to decades inside one of the world's most dangerous prisons. Convicted ISIS 'Beatle' member El Shafee Elsheikh is expected to serve his time at the United States Penitentiary, Florence Administrative Maximum Facility in Colorado after refusing to take a plea deal.
Known as the 'Alcatraz of the Rockies', the maximum security jail is reserved for only the most violent criminals - with few inmates ever making it out alive. US prosecutors say Elsheikh's Islamic State terrorist cell in Iraq and Syria is responsible for the deaths of several journalists and aid workers.
In April, the 34-year-old Brit was found guilty of hostage-taking resulting in death, murder conspiracy and conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist organisation by a jury in Alexandria, Virginia. American and British investigators say the 'Beatles' – made up of four Brits – killed 27 people during their campaign of terror, the Mirror reports.
