Inside the million-pound home in a historic Greater Manchester village that was once a barn

A £1,200,000 home has come on the market in Greater Manchester which is unrecognisable from its former self. The characterful property in the historic Dunham Massey village was once a working barn on Black Moss Farm, which was built in 1917 as one of the original farmhouses on the Dunham Massey estate.

In recent years the barn has been converted into a beautiful four-bed family home as part of a redevelopment scheme where both the original main farmhouse and the barn became two separate properties.

The home's semi-rural location means it benefits from countryside views and closeness to the National Trust's Dunham Massey site as well as being within access to Altrincham Town Centre, Hale and Bowdon.

Accessed through a gated driveway that provides shared entry to the farmhouse, the barn is set well back from the road and sits on half an acre of vast land.

During the renovation the owners kept the home within the style of the barn retaining many of its original rural features including its high vaulted ceilings, exposed timber, brick and frames.

The home can be entered at both the front and at the back through the courtyard area. The main hub of the home is the ground floor open-plan living room which spans 800 square feet with bi-fold doors that open out onto the gardens, with gorgeous views of surrounding fields and countryside.

This relaxing living area currently has a huge sofa, wall-mounted TV, a table with bar stools and a central pool table. There is a stunning mezzanine floor above this space which opens up the room giving it a light, spacious feel.

Down the hallway is the modern kitchen dining room which has been fitted with navy units, a central island and high tech appliances. There is an additional seating area as well as a four piece dining table. On this floor there is also a cloakroom and a utility room.

A glass staircase from the living area provides access to the mezzanine floor, which is currently split into two sections used as both a landing and a bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe, en-suite and gallery area overlooking the living space below.

Mezzanine floor (Zoopla / Watersons)

This floor has four double bedrooms in total, each with vaulted ceilings and their own en-suites The master bedroom which also comes with a walk-in wardrobe.

Outside there are extensive gardens, a large garage and plenty of space to park. There is potential for the garage to be converted into additional living space. It backs onto a wooded area which is part of the Trans Pennie Trail, a popular countryside walk.

The location of the property is convenient for access to the Metrolink, the Market Quarter and it is within the catchment area for Altrincham boys and girls' grammar schools.
