A huge country estate that was once home to the heir of Matalan has come on the market with a huge £15 million price tag. The historic Ollerton Grange lies near Knutsford and is part of Cheshire's prestigious 'golden triangle' - where the region's celebrities and footballers tend to reside.
The Grade II listed mansion was formerly owned by businessman Jamey Hargreaves whose father John Hargreaves founded the British fashion and homeware retailer Matalan. Mr Hargreaves, who was once in a relationship with the late TV personality Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, bought the estate in 2000.
The grand Jacobean-style home was built back in 1901 and boasts eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms and its own 'outstanding' leisure complex. The stunning estate also includes a three-bedroom penthouse suite and three cottages as well as 141 acres of land featuring lakes and parkland.

After Mr Hargreaves bought the estate, it underwent an extensive refurbishment to both the property and its outbuildings, reports CheshireLive.
Liverpool-based Abacus Consult, who carried out the full detailed design of all mechanical services, states on its website: "The scheme included the entire refurbishment of the existing house and outbuildings, whilst adhering to strict conservation requirements and also the addition of a new build leisure wing, consisting of banquet hall, gymnasium, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms."
Ollerton Grange was put on the market back in 2010. Crispin Harris, of Jackson-Stops estate agents, said in a story reported by the M.E.N at the time: “This is an exceptional property. It would be a very good buy for a footballer. A Premier League footballer is at the very top of his game and this property is at very the top of its game."
In recent years, Mr Hargreaves has been a resident of Monaco but has business interests in Britain.
Jackson-Stops, Alderley Edge is once again bringing the property to the market. To view it on Rightmove click here.
