Inside Stephen Mulhern's luxury home life and forgotten romance with Eastenders star

Star of Catchphrase and all round TV favourite, Stephen Mulhern, is one of the UK's most-loved presenters.

The star kicked off his career working on kids' television and has climbed up that showbiz ladder ever since.

He is now ranked as one of the nation's greatest comic presenters featuring on shows such as Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Mr Mulhern is not only a popular household name, but also boasts close friendships with other TV stars.

However, he tends to keep his private life to himself, reports The Mirror.

Stephen has quite literally grown up on screen but only shares small glimpses of his life away from TV on social media, keeping his personal list incredibly secret.

Here, we take a look inside the life of Stephen Mulhern from his rise to fame to his luxury home and showbiz pals.

Rise to fame

Stephen gained his interest in comedy and magic from his father, who taught him tricks when he was 11 years old, and it was from there his career in TV would begin.

He soon became a household name when he bagged the role of host of Saturday Showdown on CITV alongside Holly Willoughby.

The much-loved TV star also worked alongside Fearne Cotton on children’s show Finger Tips, and presented the hit kids’ show Tricky TV for over a decade.

He eventually moved away from children’s TV in the 2010’s when he hosted a Dancing On Ice spin-off show and made regular appearances on This Morning for specialised segments.

Stephen’s biggest role to date is arguably his stint on Catchphrase which showcased his exceptional talent and charisma.

This role led him onto even bigger and better gigs including his spot on BGT spin-off Britain’s Got More Talent.

While he’s left those roles behind him, Stephen still works alongside his showbiz pals Ant and Dec on their iconic Saturday Night Takeaway.

There’s no denying that Stephen has worked incredibly hard to get to where he is today, and if it wasn’t for his love of magic, his life could have taken a completely different turn.

Lavish lifestyle

With fame comes fortune, and it seems as though Stephen has invested his hard-earned cash into his lavish properties.

The 44-year-old is a multi-home owner, with properties sprawling across the UK with pads in Benfleet Essex, Leicester, and Barnet, as well as his luxurious home in London.

In 2019, Stephen welcomed fans into his not-so-humble abode which boasts an incredible interior design and an open-plan layout.

Stephen brought his followers on a tour of his large home when he started off in the cost living room which is decorated with rustic hues and brown leather sofas.

The TV star proved that he spent his earnings well as he showed off the room’s gigantic flatscreen TV and pristine furniture.

Elsewhere, Stephen’s kitchen features a huge marble island which is surrounded by an array of luxury leather chairs.

The presenter has erected a bespoke shelving unit which has been built into the walls of his home.

After sharing a glimpse inside his personal life and gorgeous London home, Stephen proved that he’s got a keen eye for interior design and home furnishings.

Down through the years, Stephen has remained incredibly tight-lipped about his relationship status.

The last time he opened up about his love life was in 2018, when Stephen admitted that he enjoyed a brief romance four years previous to that, and he had been single ever since.

Although Stephen refrains from talking about his love life, the star opened up about why he thinks he has been unlucky in love in a previous interview with Celeb Now.

The telly favourite said he felt as though his career had gotten in the way of him finding someone special to settle down with.

"Last time I went on a date was about four years ago,” he explained.

"That makes me sound really sad! I need a life. I need to stop working so much."

Back in 2008, Stephen was linked to EastEnders star Emma Barton, who plays Honey Mitchell on the BBC soap.

The pair were said to have grown close while starring in pantomime production of Snow White in Birmingham at the time, but neither star ever confirmed the rumours although they were spotted out together for a duration of three years.

When their relationship ended, without ever admitting that they were an item, Stephen said his time with Emma came to a ‘natural end’.

Stephen hasn’t been linked to any other potential love interests since his split with Emma.
