Shakira 's split from Spanish football player Gerard Piqué is certainly providing some very interesting moments.
The former couple announced the end of their 11-year relationship via a joint statement last year, but that's the very last time the two global stars have put on a united front post-split.
From diss tracks, bizzare witch dolls, new (younger) partners and very savage public quips, the Columbian singer and the retired sports star aren't exactly following in Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's footsteps and enjoying a 'conscious uncoupling'.
We take a look at the fallout since Shakira, 45, and Gerard, 35, officially called time on their romance last year.
The split
Shakira and Gerard, who share sons, Milan and Sasha, together, shocked fans when they issued a joint statement on June 6, 2022 announcing the end of their romance.
"We regret to confirm that we are separating," the exes began saying, "For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we request respect for our privacy. Thank you for your understanding."
While the joint statement seemed amicable, things quickly turned sour.
The diss track
Following the split announcement, it was then reported Gerard had struck up a romance with then 22-year-old Clara Chia Marti - something Shakira wasn't too happy about.
Gerard and and Clara, 23, have officially been together since October and Shakira was quick to reference the relationship in her new song called BZRP Music Sessions Vol 53.
"I'm worth two 22's. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio... A lot of gyms, but work your brain a little bit too," the Hips Don't Lie hitmaker sings in the savage track.
The music video for Shakira's tune got an astonishing 133 million views - and counting - in just five days on Bizarrap's YouTube channel. Furthermore, it has also been streamed more than 53 million times on Spotify.
But Gerard also benefited from his ex's revenge song, as he responded to those lyrics by persuading Casio to become sponsors of the Kings League.
The former Barcelona player explained his sponsorship deal with Casio during an appearance on a live stream of the Kings League, saying: "We have an agreement with Casio," which was followed by laughter.
He added: "I'm serious... we have reached an agreement with Casio for the Kings [League], yes, because we have many countdowns and we have many watches... this watch is for life, I'm telling you!"
Gerard then handed out free Casio watches to his guests, while Sergio Aguero chanted "Casio, Casio". The Manchester City legend then asked about Shakira's song, which led to more laughter.
The witch doll
The former couple's split turned into a family feud earlier this month, as Shakira reportedly displayed a witch mannequin facing her ex mother-in-law's house
Gerard's mum Montserrat Bernabeu has reportedly noticed a black witch on a broomstick mounted on the terrace of Shakira's house in Barcelona, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Bernabeu reportedly asked one of Shakira's staff to turn the witch around so it wouldn't face towards her house, which is on the same street, according to Spanish show 'Mas Vale Tarde'.
Spanish journalist Marc Leirado Millan hinted the feud had been going on for weeks and tweeted: "Weeks ago, I got some information that Pique's mother was worried about an alleged ritual that was done to her with a black witch.
"But I didn't give it any more importance."
Shakira mentioned her former mother-in-law in her diss track, singing in Spanish: "You left me the mother-in-law as a neighbour. With the press at my door and a debt with the taxman."
The jam theory
Gerard may have only gone public with new beau Clara in October last year, but there is speculation his romance with the 23-year-old was the reason behind his split from Shakira in June.
Mum-of-two Shakira herself has alluded to the alleged adultery in her music, and more recently in her video for ‘Te Felicito’.
In the video, Shakira opens a refrigerator and finds the head of the song’s collaborator, Rauw Alejandro, with fans deducing that she found the "truth in the fridge".
It's now been reported that that was the case with Shakira returning home from travelling to find an empty jam jar – despite neither her ex nor her kids liking the preserve, according to multiple South American news outlets.
ShowNews Today, reports allegations that it was unlikely that the jam would have been eaten by Gerard, as he apparently does not like jam, and so she deduced that he was "cheating".
"Imagine being in Shakira’s home, sleeping with her man & not trying on her clothes & eating her special jam," one Twitter mused as the rumour gained traction online. "I need to hear from the side babe cos that is exactly what I would be doing. SHAKIRA! I would even be in the belly dancer chains in the mirror singing 'lolololo lolololo'."
Another added: "Imagine having the audacity not only to f*** shakira’s man but to eat shakira’s jam."
A third Twitter user quipped: "men are an absolute insane species fr like ur gonna cheat SHAKIRA?? and let the woman EAT UR WIFES JAM?? THE MOTHER OR UR CHILDREN??"
The Twingo taunt
Gerard sent his ex a secret message thanks to his brand new car and number plate, fans suspected earlier this week.
In Shakira’s latest revenge song, she said her ex traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo when he left her for a 23-year-old - something Gerard has clearly picked up on.
The dad-of-two turned up to his new seven-a-side Kings League in an £8,000 Renault Twingo with a 2511 MDJ number plate - with fans quickly spotting the footballer's possible shady diss of his own.
Marca claim the seemingly harmless registration plate refers to the specific day, 25 November, that the singer left the Barcelona home she once shared with the retired footballer.
Shakira described her split from Gerard as "incredibly difficult" during an interview last October.
"It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our separation is not like a regular separation," she told Elle.
The singer and Gerard confirmed in November that they have signed a child custody agreement that will avoid them warring in court over their two children.
