Chilling photographs have offered a glimpse inside a hidden underground prison which was once home to Victorian criminals including maimed murderer Charles Peace.
The jail, which dates back to 1864, was tucked away under the front steps of Leeds Town Hall and is said to be haunted by the serial killer's ghost.
Shackle rings for prisoners' wrists and ankles were fastened to the wall of each of the cells at Leeds Bridewell which still exists today.
