Red Bull driver Max Verstappen clinched this year's world championship crown just before a break in events allowing him to celebrate with cake and shots.
His Red Bull team were left surprised at securing the title at last weekend's Japanese GP after being awarded full points despite the race being shortened due to a rain delay. After taking 12 wins this season the Dutch driver was deserving of the secret party thrown for him despite having four races left this season.
Friend Louis van Baar uploaded a video clip on Instagram showing the full extent of the secret party in Monte Carlo which was attended by his friends including McLaren driver Lando Norris.
Verstappen was treated to a tray of shots surrounded by sparklers. Of course the Red Bull drink was prominent and used as a mixer for alcoholic drinks. The Dutch driver was also given a huge cake in the shape of a trophy with the Dutch flag prominent, the cake also came out surrounded by sparklers during the glitzy party.
Despite being three years younger than the world champion Norris quickly rose through the ranks and they raced together in karting. The British driver was also keen to display his skills behind the DJ decks at the party.
After winning his second world title at the age of 25 Verstappen told Sky Sports: "The first one is a little more emotional; the second one is more beautiful.
"It's been a special year, and you need to remind yourself as these kinds of years you don't have very often. It's a pretty crazy feeling, of course, because I didn't expect it when I crossed the line.
"Of course, you could see it slowly happening, but it's incredible at the end of the day that we did win it here. I didn't know how many points I was going to get."
Verstappen will be back on the grid this weekend when the F1 championship continues with the United States GP followed by the Mexico GP the following weekend.
