Alex Jones was left delighted when her husband, Charlie Thomson, whisked her away to Paris as a surprise birthday treat.

The wonderful Welsh host of The One Show marked her 45th birthday last week – with her rarely seen husband, who hails from New Zealand, showering her with affection and tickets to the City of Love.

Taking to Instagram earlier this week, Alex shared photos and videos of herself and Charlie enjoying all the sights – and romance – of the French capital.
