An inquest has opened into the death of a three-month-old baby boy in Stockport. Oakley-Shay King died at his family's home address in Brinnington on January 28 this year.
Oakley was born on October 22 last year in Stockport and was the child of 30-year-old housewife Shannon Patricia King, Police Coroner's Officer Claire Smith said.
The hearing at South Manchester Coroner's Court in Stockport was told it was a "sudden unexpected death in the context of co-sleeping", Senior Coroner Alison Mutch said.
A Home Office post-mortem was ordered with the pathologist offering a conclusion that the cause of death was "unascertained" she said.
"Given the cause of death as expressed, I am satisfied it is necessary for an inquest touching on the death of Oakley-Shay King to take place. I am formally opening the inquest today" Ms Mutch said.
A pre-inquest review date was fixed for next month with a date for the full inquest to be fixed at a later date, Ms Mutch said, before adjourning the hearing.
