Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire go head to head in a huge bantamweight unification fight in Japan on Tuesday.
The stage is hopefully set for another classic showdown between these heralded multi-division world champions, whose last clash in November 2019 was a ‘Fight of the Year’ winner.
Pound-for-pound great Inoue emerged victorious on points on that occasion to become the unified bantamweight world champion and also win the World Boxing Super Series title at 118lbs, but he was hurt early on in an absorbing back-and-forth battle.
Things are expected to be a bit more straightforward this time for ‘The Monster’, the undefeated power puncher who has 19 knockouts from 22 professional career victories and currently holds the WBA, IBF and The Ring titles.

However, only a fool would ever count out Donaire, who despite almost hitting 40 remains a real force to be reckoned with.
‘The Filipino Flash’ shocked Nordine Oubaali to regain the WBC strap and become the oldest bantamweight champion in history one year ago, later retaining the belt with victory over compatriot Reymart Gaballo in California.
